AN investigation has been launched after a person was discovered lifeless in jail earlier at the moment.
The prisoner, who was in his 20s and from Donegal, was found at Castlerea Jail the place he was on remand.

The person’s household have been knowledgeable of his demise.
A full investigation has now been launched into the circumstances of his demise.
A spokesperson for the Irish Jail confirmed the incident.
They mentioned: “The Irish Jail Service can verify that there was a demise in custody of an individual within the custody of the Irish Jail Service on twenty sixth January 2023 and the following of kin have been notified.
“This demise in custody shall be investigated by the Irish Jail Service, The Inspector of Prisons and An Garda Síochána, the place circumstances warrant.
“The reason for demise is set by the Coroner’s Workplace.”
