The commissioner mentioned whereas he had joined the police in 1987 he had solely served within the Met for six years, including: “I’m not going to attempt to check my reminiscence by going again to the Nineteen Eighties.”
However Mr Anderson replied: “I feel that type of solutions my query. It might seem that you’re in denial.”
Sir Mark mentioned: “I’m not in denial. I’ve been extra forthright about the necessity to reform requirements within the police than any commissioner for many years… I’m completely decided to sort out points within the organisation.
“I’ve at all times been powerful on requirements and I’ll proceed to be. We’re going to reform the problems that want tackling. I would like the help of politicians in coping with this. I would like the rules to vary.”
Mr Anderson responded: “To get the help of politicians, commissioner, it’s good to be trustworthy, and to sit down there and say you’ll be able to’t keep in mind if you happen to witnessed these incidents… I don’t suppose that could be very trustworthy in any respect.”
The MP then hit out on the Met’s response to ongoing disruption brought on by protesters, accusing the pressure of failing to become familiar with the issue.
